Field notes
What to prepare before an endpoint setup visit
On-site setup days succeed when access and decisions are ready before technicians arrive. The first item is a current device list: hostname, user, role (office, warehouse, finance, server), and whether the machine is always on site. Even a spreadsheet beats verbal estimates.
Second, nominate a pilot group and a business contact who can approve exclusions the same day. Waiting three days for a finance manager to approve a payroll path stalls the whole rollout.
Third, gather licence keys or console invitations and confirm admin accounts for the products you already own. Service Hazelpoint advises on configuration; licence purchase remains with you unless separately agreed.
Fourth, identify maintenance windows for servers and any devices that cannot reboot during trading hours. Retail and clinic environments in eThekwini often need evening windows—state that early so the schedule is honest.
Bring written policies if they exist, even drafts. Aligning agent settings to those documents during setup saves a separate Policy Alignment Review later. If policies are missing, we still deploy a practical baseline and note where formal wording should catch up.
